Abstract

This paper presents a package for the advanced analysis of surface gravity water wave data. Contrarily to most available software dealing with waves, the Advanced Wave Analysis Program (AWAP) focuses on the analysis of wave data and not on coastal engineering related aspects. The software package consists of a number of routines linked together through a graphical user interface (GUI). Wavefields can be characterized in the frequency domain as well as in the directional domain, an aspect more and more important to various engineering and scientific applications.
