Abstract

An operational definition of groundwater resource vulnerability to contamination by pesticides as well as a methodology to assess it, are presented in this paper. MIKE SHE, LEACHP and ARGOS, which are respectively a physically-based hydrological model, a pesticide transport and transformation model and a solute transport model in the aquifer, are used to derive a groundwater vulnerability map at the scale of a catchment. The methodology is based upon computation of the flow field in the aquifer and reverse transport. 1 Introduction Contamination of groundwater resources by pesticides has drawn decision-makers' attention to the usefulness
