Abstract

The work deals with the design, planning and implementation of an integrated monitoring system of coastal dynamics and river sediment transport, in order to characterize qualitative and quantitative phenomena, as well as sediment transport processes relative to the Ionian and Tyrrhenian coasts of Basilicata. The immediate feedback of such integrated monitoring is fed to a territorial decisions support system and addresses defence, emergency management and risk in both rivers and coastal areas; it also addresses issues relating to social and economic development.
