The area under examination is found in the N.E. part of the municipality of Thessaloniki. In the existing situation it includes a variety of land uses and is surrounded by heavily dense residential areas. The authorities decided to redesign the existing land-use system so as to minimize traffic and associate environmental impacts and, at the same time, to improve the quality of the environment and the quality of life for residents, employees and visitors.
