Abstract

Labels in general are used to reduce the need for information on a specific subject by introducing common standards. With the help of eco-labels companies can position themselves in the market as environmentally responsible players. Investors can use eco-labels as the basis for their investment decisions. In order to be successful eco-labels have to adhere to certain standards and must be supported by reputable institutions. Basically there are four different levels an eco-label can relate to: 1) It can be used as a kind of meta-rating with a focus on rating criteria.
