Abstract

Modelling and simulation of rainfall data at Mawson Lakes K, Rosenberg, J. Boland & P. Howlett School of Mathematics, University of South Australia, Australia Abstract Mawson Lakes is a new urban housing development situated 12 km north of the Adelaide CBD. Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, and has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and cool wet winters. The Mawson Lakes Developers propose to recycle both stormwater and wastewater back to houses in a water supply system for non-potable purposes. This paper is concerned with the development of a mathematical model for simulation of rainfall in the Mawson Lakes catchment area. If we can simulate a dry season, then we can simulate the performance of the proposed water cycle management system when water supply is low. It is important to understand how the system will behave during extended dry periods. 1 Introduction We will show that it is possible to construct simulated rainfall data that is statistically identi
