Pykh Center for International Environmental Cooperation INENCO, Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia Abstract One of the most important political and social problems of today is how to improve and secure the quality of life of mankind while living within the carrying capacity of the environment and without compromising the long-term human, economical, and ecological capital of the future. For answering this basic question it could be useful to try and find the corresponding conceptual framework on the concepts of quality of life (QoL), sustainability and environmental changes. QoL is a multi-faceted concept.
