Abstract

The EXPECT model provides a tool that allows fast evaluation of a large range of national environmental policy scenarios. EXPECT aims to identify the consequences of socio-economic scenarios and environmental policies for combinations of environmental problems. For this purpose a number of modules has been developed, covering a complete chain of pollutant trans- port from emissions to biotic and abiotic receptor systems. These modules have been developed by simplifying and accelerating existing research models. Aspects of the differences between policy evaluation models and research models are discussed. 1 Introduction In 1988 and 1991 the first National Dutch Environmental Surveys were produced at RIVM, evaluating the present s
