Abstract

To identify an Air Quality Management Strategy for countries, cities, or regions, it is necessary to understand the major sources of key pollutants, future trends, and the impact of a range of potential solutions. A promising new approach for constructing mobile and stationary source pollutant inventories for a range of emissions has been developed by IPIECA (International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association). As an example of the capabilities of this methodology, Shell Global Solutions has developed and validated a case study for New Zealand based on input data from the NZ Government and other sources. The first step in the approach was to develop a Base-case, i.e. future projections of emissions based on current trends and technologies, which compared favourably with the Government's own studies. The method then enabled the response of emi
