Abstract

A whole new system affecting the use of water resources is being conceived in Brazil. Such new system primarily derives from the 1988 Brazilian Constitution and has been consolidated with the enactment of Law 9.433/97 (National Policy of Waters) This paper aims to identify the main aspects concerning federal regulations establishing national policies for the use of water resources and the implementation of the national system for their management.
