Abstract

Monitoring Surface Ozone at Timisoara, Romania A contribution to subproject SATURN E A Lorinczi, Mariana Lorinczi and Eva Peter str. Cozia nr. 7, 1900 Timisoara, Romania Some initial results of continuous measurement of tropospheric ozone near the ground surface in the urban area from a big Romanian city, Timisoara, have been obtained. The principal data (National Commission for Statistics, 1996) of the town Timisoara are: surface of the town: 4985 ha; population: 327830 inhabitants; number of street: 965; length of street: 530 km; number of companies: 13680; fairs and exhibitions: 1; hotels: 12; nternational airport: 1; number of vehicles: 75000. The surface ozone measurements started in 1994 and were carried out with a UV ozone analyser DASIBI Env.Corp. model 1008 R-5 ANTECHNIKA. The ozone analyser
