Abstract

Mapping Land Use for Modelling Biogenic and Anthropogenic Emissions A contribution to subproject GENEMIS Gerhard Smiatek Fraunhofer Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research, Kreuzeckbahnstr. 19, D-82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany Introduction Land use, topographic information and elevation data are very important input parameters when modelling meteorology, biogenic emissions and transport of air pollutants. The principle goals of the land use project are: * to provide appropriate land use data for atmospheric modelling in Germany and Europe, * to provide a forest data base for calculation of biogenic emissions, * to process other information, such as soil data and digital elevation models, for use in atmospheric models. The article concentrates upon the current status of the land use mapping activities and the first accuracy assessment. Within the project the geograph
