Abstract

Pathways for the Exchange of Oa and to Forest Canopies A contribution to subproject BIATEX-2 KM Beswick, MW Gallagher, JH Duyzer, K Pilegaard and H Coe Physics Department, UMST, P.O. Box 88, Manchester, M60 1QD, U.K. Introduction The work presented here forms part of the FOREXNOX series of field projects taking place across Europe. Several groups are involved: UMIST, England; TNO, Holland; RIS0, Denmark; and IFU, Germany. The general aims of the collaboration are listed below. * Measure fluxes ofNO% and Og above and below the forest crown, and establish the relation between these fluxes and emission of NO from the forest floor * Assess the influence of biogenic emissions of NO and hydrocarbons on the deposition ofOg and improve estimates of the dry deposition ofOg * Study the relationship between forest floor emissions and the input of nitrogen from the atmosphere * Estimate
