Abstract

A simple software tool is proposed for estimating the water balance of a site. The site is decomposed into parcels which are represented according to a hierarchical discrete mathematical formalism. Each hydrogeological phenomenon which gov- erns the water flow is represented by a sequential automaton implemented by predefined generic objects. The top-level model is simulated in accordance with the discrete event principle. Validation of this tool with field data is the next step of this work; environmental and computer science developments are under study. 1 Introduction In 1993, the French Ministry of Environment decided to identify industrial sites which could be potentially polluted in order to f
