Abstract

We consider the implementation issues of quadrilateral mesh generation algorithms and present their use for solving dispersion problems in envi- ronmental applications. 1 Introduction Generating a good quality mesh is a critical step in finite element applications. One approach for generating a quadrilateral mesh is to first generate a triangular mesh and then convert it to a quadrilat- eral mesh by combining adjacent triangles. Although this approach is simple to understand and easy to implement, the resulting quadri- lateral mesh tends to contain trapped triangles.
