Abstract

AQUAVITAE is an in-house developed suite of software that provides Bechtel Water engineers with a design environment fully integrated with the company CAD tool, with software links to database tables. It enables the hydraulic design and analysis of wastewater treatment works to be performed quickly, accurately and economically. The paper outlines the background to the development of the software. The use of AQUAVITAE is described, some of its features are detailed and some aspects of the programming philosophy highlighted. The paper concludes by describing the benefits gained by using AQUAVITAE on a project and looks forward to future possible developments of the software. 1 Introduction Wastewater treatment
