Abstract

After a description of the context for the EOF company, the ID and 2D software packages dedicated to dam-break wave simulation are presented. Both of these use a Roe scheme and special attention has been paid to the treatment of source items. In the second part, we present the work achieved in the framework of an IAHR working group. 1 Introduction Dam safety legislation is becoming more and more widespread. So, dam- break induced flow becomes a very important topic for hydraulic engineers. For example in France, dam-break analysis began in the early sixties. Since 1994, new regulations lay down an updating of existing emergency plannings for French dams higher than 20 m and with a reservoir over 15 Mm\ As a part of risk and safety analysis, it is now current to produce inundati
