Abstract

The paper deals with the relevance of environmental education nowadays. The introduction gives an overall description of the notion of environmental education and its place in education in general. Various training models at the Pollack Mihaly Engineering Faculty of Janus Pannonius University are de- scribed next where an entire sub-chapter is devoted to environmental education at the institution. The role of the school as a model is highlighted. A great number of activities and techniques are listed with the help of which the pri- mary role of the teacher is reduced and student participation is stressed. In the next part the author provides a detailed report of various environ- mental projects in in-service training programmes among them the "Health", the "For Our Environment" or the "Mecsek"
