Abstract

The purpose of this study is to propose an indirect approach to identify the pressure distribution at the stump-socket interface. The finite element model of the socket is combined with the observed deformation at the outer surface of the socket, and the pressure identification problem is formulated in the context of an inverse problem. The proposed procedure is implemented by using a commercially available finite element package, and successfully used for the above-knee prosthesis socket. 1 Introduction The prosthesis socket is an unique interface between the stump of the lo
