Experimental study on RC bridge pier model under cyclic bi-axial horizontal loadings T. ~ a t o ' , H. it oh', H. ~ o b a ~ a s h i ' & K. sonoda2 I Department of Civil Engineering, Osaka City University, Japan '~tructural Research Centel; Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan Abstract This paper presents the results of cyclic bi-axial horizontal loading tests of the reinforced concrete (RC) column models for bridge piers under a constant axial force. The test parameter was the sub axial horizontal load intensity which was not cyclic but constant. All the specimens failed in a flexural mode. The peak strength of the cyclic load in the main horizontal axis decreased naturally as the load intensity in the sub horizontal axis increased.
