Abstract The Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWCIIHD) is developing and applying parallel, coupled hydrocodes for the modeling of weapodtarget interactions for both underwater and surf-zone scenarios. The accurate modeling of underwater explosives deforming thin-shell structures requires a tight coupling between the fluid/explosive model and the target structure. NSWCIIHD is talung a multi-faceted approach by developing inhouse parallel, coupled hydrocodes and applying hydrocodes developed by the Department of Energy (DOE). NSWCIIHD has developed the DYSMASIGemini hydrocode specifically for the accurate modeling and simulation of underwater explosion damage to naval structures. NSWCIIHD is also performing threedim
