Abstract

Noise traffic forecasting models carried out in standard sites C. Pronello & F. lannelli Department of Hydraulic, Transport and Civil Infrastructures, Turin Polytechnic, Italy Abstract A large research program was set up to carry out a methodology focused to define "standard sites" in which to do the measurements of traffic and noise. In such a way a survey was carried out following the proposed methodology and a data base was built, containing traffic and noise data and geometrical characteristics of the sites. This data base has been used to test the reliability of several models, either existing in the literature or carried out during this research. Regarding the current models it is possible to affirm that the models that best describe the monitored sites are the most simple ones, i.e. those based on traffic flow and the source-receptor distance. Another important finding was that two parameters have been found to be very important in building a new model: the traffi
