Abstract

New train control system of Tokaido Shinkansen J. Ito, K. Kubota, M. Shibuya & K. Kumagai Central Japan Railway Company, Japan Abstract We introduce a new train control system into Tokaido Sinkansen. In the existing system, the train decelerates by "multistep" brake control. In the new system, the comfort of the ride is considered, and therefore a train decelerates by "continuous" brake control. The main constituent of this control is a device on the train; the system computes the necessary point to start braking from, using the distance between the train itself and the preceding train. In Japan, development of a new ATP has been carried out to be introduced into high density commuter lines within a metropolitan area [1]. It is the method that computes the brake control patterns, taking into account the train efficiency beforehand, and memorizes this in an on board database. And it refers to brake control patterns by signal from the ground. The control method that we
