Abstract

To assure the safety of railway network in Japan , we carried out the analytical calculations. In this paper the dynamics of a contact wire and poles is analyzed assuming the poles as a Bernoulli-Euler beam and a contact wire as a string . Suppose a pole or poles installed under various conditions : (1) a pole standing with no string at the top , (2) a pole standing with a string stretched at the top to an infinite length , (3) a pole standing with a string stretched at the top to a definite length , (4) a series of poles standing at equal intervals with a string stretched at the top . 1 Introduction On 17th Jan. in 1995, Kansai area was hit by Hyogo-Ken-Nanbu-earth quake and railw
