Abstract

The possibility of a major oil spill in the Venetian Lagoon or the Upper Adriatic demands a sure response to the classic problems involved. Thogh there are prospects for a complete ban on oil tankers entering the Venetian Lagoon, it is necessary in the short term to devise a risk management scheme based on the comprehensive effectiveness of preventative action.
