Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of high-speed freight ferry services on coastal routes between Scotland and Englandfl]. Developments and trends in high-speed ferry technology are considered, and constraints with regard to trunk haulage reviewed. The paper includes analysis of an existing coastal freight ferry service (in Italy), and an assessment of the UK trunk road market.
