Abstract

Stress corrosion cracking of the AlZnSMgl alloy H.A. Jawaif, J. Labanowski*>, A. The most susceptible to stress corrosion cracking was the underaged alloy tested under constant load in HCl-containing solutions. The comparison of stress corrosion and corrosion tests shows that the cracking may be considered in terms of hydrogen-related crack propagation. The remarkable degradation of the underaged alloy is assumed to relate to the gram boundary microstructure. Introduction Most of engineering wrought Al alloys, the Al-Zn-Mg 7xxx alloys including, may fail under joint action of environment and mechanical stresses. The corrosion
