Abstract

Performances of the multidimensional positive definitive advection transport algorithm (MPDATA) to simulate the advection of pollutants in coastal water bodies are presented. In particular, the antidiffusive velocities for MPDATA are calculate here as a function of the original advected velocity, obeying a recursive relation in which the antidiffusive velocity for any iteration is simply related to the antidiffusive velocity of the previous iteration. Hence, a single antidiffusive velocity is computed which represents the effect of an infinite number of iterations (recursive antidiffusive velocity). Test cases treated here include one-dimensional front propagation of a conse
