Abstract

In southern part of Thailand, closing of river mouth is a major problem for local fishermen who live along river. Constructing of training jetties to interrupt longshore sediment transport is one of the proposed solutions from the feasibility study of harbour department. However, consequence of that coastal structure to the downcoast area which will suffer erosion should be investigated in more detail. The present study proposes some solutions to alleviate that problem using numerical simulation for downcoast control structures such as offshore breakwater. It was found that the scour location is shifted from jetty to the end of offshore breakwaters when their series were constructed at downcoast.
