Abstract

Application of low Reynolds number k† e model to wave-current combined motion A. Sana, H. Tanaka Department of Civil Engineering, Tohoku University, Sendai 980-77, Japan Abstract The applicability of low Reynolds number k-e model to wave-cur rent com- bined motion is examined. A variety of numerical experiments reveal the abilities of the model in predicting various flow parameters under different conditions. The predicted results are compared with the available data and good agreement is found. 1 Introduction The flow phenomenon of practical relevance are normally turbulent and due to their complex nature, the appraisal and prediction of flow quantities become extremely difficult. In spite of the fact that the exact equations can be derived for these phenomena, solution of these equations is impossible with the help of common computing facilities. That is why, turbulence models are gaining popularity among the researchers. In case of steady and wave motion, k-e mod
