Abstract

For convection-diffusion equations and generalised axisymmetric Poisson equations (GASPEs), we derive a new DRM (dual reciprocity method) for- mulation. In comparison with the traditional scheme for these problems, we find that the new formulation is easier and more compact, and saves some computational effort since the new scheme "shifts" the burden of ma- trix multiplications to the particular solutions. For GASPEs, however, it is quite difficult to find these particular solutions for commonly-used RBFs (radial basis functions), but we propose a remedy for this situation. Two examples demonstrate the approach. 1 Introduction The Boundary Element Method (BEM) is now a powerful alternative nu- merical technique for solving Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). For
