Abstract

The author and his co-workers have introduced boundary element derivations for thick Reissner plates on two parameter elastic foundation. The fundamental solution of this type of problems is usually expressed in terms of modified Bessel functions K^(z) and K,(z), with z being a real or complex variable, and the kernel functions containing log z, 1/z, and l/z* singularities. This paper introduces a modification to the fundamental solution, which leads to the elimination of most singular terms, and the resulting boundary integral equations can be analysed with source points on the actual boundary. The fundamental solution is consistent for characteristic equation roots with real or complex values. Several case studies with different geometrical shapes, and different boundary and loading conditions, have been anal
