Abstract
The potential based BEM Morino variant is compared with a modified ver- sion of the velocity based method proposed by Hess, on the calculation of potential flow around 2-dimensional foils. In the Morino method, several numerical implementations of the Kutta condition are investigated. The test cases for the comparison of the two methods are analytical foils ob- tained by conformal mapping techniques: Joukowski and Karman-Trefftz. Surface solutions are presented and the main drawbacks and advantages for each formulation are discussed.
