Abstract

This paper describes an efficient technique for accurately evaluating domain integrals appearing in 2D and 3D non-linear boundary element formulations The strong singularity arising in the kernel of the initial stress (or strain) tensor is first isolated. While the regularized weakly singular term can then be evaluated by the element sub-division technique, the isolated strongly singular term can be calculated accurately by excluding a radius-independent sphere or by means of a transformed fully numerical formulation. In both cases, we exploit the anti- symmetry of the singular kernels. Some numerical results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 1 Introduction Following the pion
