Abstract

As it is known, in order to use the BEM, obtaining the fundamental solution is essential. For highly non-linear materials such as rubbers, it is extremely difficult to find the analytical solution to Kelvin's problem. A method for obtaining an approximate solution, which is proposed as a linear combination of known functions, is presented. The technique of weighted residuals is employed. The residuals are weighted over subregions and the condition of unit point load is applied through a boundary integral. The proposed method is verified solving the linear elastostatic problem, whose fundamental solution is known, achieving the same numerical results. In addition, the method is applied to the simplest
