Abstract

In this paper, a new approach for the evaluation of the hypersingular and strongly singular in- tegrals in the integral representation for the boundary potential gradients is presented for two- dimensional potential problems. In the present formulation the conventional conforming inter- polation scheme can still be employed but it gives us erroneous results. It is shown through a numerical demonstration that the employment of the higher order interpolation scheme for the potential dramatically improves the accuracy of the results than by the refinement of the mesh with the conventional interpolation scheme. 1 Introduction The hypersingular integral equations are used in many boun
