Abstract

The boundary element method (BEM) does not require a domain integral in steady thermoelastic problems without heat generation. However, in prob- lems with heat generation, the domain integral is necessary. This paper shows that the axisymmetric problem of steady thermoelasticity with non- uniform heat generation over the region can be easily solved without a domain integral by means of the improved multiple-reciprocity boundary element method. The conventional multiple-reciprocity boundary element method is not suitable for the complicated heat generation. In the improved multiple- reciprocity boundary element method, the heat generation is interpolated by integral boundary equation.
