Abstract

This paper presents some work about the first step in mathematical and numerical modelling of casting - calculation of temperature field. The purpose was to assess what BEM could bring to analysing the 'Black Box' programs, setting up process parameters on our own small scale continuous casting machine and partially with inverse problems. Some numerical and graphical results are given. 1 Introduction Nowadays continuous casting represents one of the leading technological processes for producing high quality metal and alloy semi-products at competitive costs. To speed up the design process and set-up of casting machine operation parameters, the mathematical modelling has been strongly utilised, especially in the last decade. Complete modelling is beyond doubt ra
