Abstract

The paper combines the Boundary Strip Method (BSM) previously presented by Michael, Avrashi and Rosenhouse (1994), with domain decomposition- Avrashi, Michael and Rosenhouse (1995), for analysis of the settlement of foundations embedded in a continuous pit. The soil beneath the foundation is either more rigid or more flexible than the foundation material. The effect of pavement rigidity and its thickness on its deflection is investigated. We distinguish between two sub-domains - one of which is the relatively rigid (say, a concrete slab) and the other is the half space which consists of soil. The found
