Abstract

A system has been designed and built that solves quantitative problems in the fields of science and engineering. The system uses a novel object oriented knowledge base for storing data that allows the quantitative knowledge to be manipulated and transformed in a robust and intelligent manner. The system employs ontologies describing knowledge in relevant domains and a goal directed search algorithm for problem solving.
