Abstract

Speech-act based communication protocol to support multi-agent co-operative design systems A. Taleb-Bendiab* & V. The demands placed on the design of future generation expert systems to reflect this multi-disciplinary interaction of specialists require that the systems embed a model of cooperative design. Crucial to this cooperative design model is the communication dimension. This paper aims to present the application of speech-act theory to the implementation of a communication component forming part of a cooperative design model for an implemented expert system called System for Improving Mechanical Assembly Design (SIMAD).
