Abstract

CATCORCS' a computer aided teaching course on corrosion of concrete structures M.H. Ramesht Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, UMIST, f 0 Boz ^ MancAesfer Abstract Creation of training applications takes a different kind of software than that used for another purposes, because a rich interactive environment is needed. A multimedia computer really shines when used for training or education in a one-to-one situation with a student. The multimedia presentation capacity can show the student material from any kind of source; text, chart, audio, video, animation, simulation, sound or photographs. When these are combined with interactivity, an effective learning environment is created [1]. There is currently no CAL or CBT material available for civil engineering about corrosion and corrosion protection in concrete structures. This paper will describe "CATCORCS" a ToolBook application which provides an alternative learning environment i
