Abstract

Material characterization in elasto-plasticity with nonuniform strain fields M.A.N. Hendriks TNO Building and Construction Research, P.O. 2m? ABSTRACT This paper presents an inverse method to determine material parameters in elasto-plastic constitutive equations. The method is based on: numerical analysis, strain distribution measurement and system identification. By means of simulations it will be shown that it is possible to estimate stiffness parameters, including a hardening parameter, from a measured nonuniform strain field at one point in time. INTRODUCTION A majority of the papers on material characterization with nonuniform strain fields deal with linear elastic examples. Interesting identification problems in the realm of linear elasticity are anisotropy^ and nonuniform materials, i.e. where the (effective) material properties are different from point to point.^ " ^ Besides, many challenging applications can be found in the realm of n
