Abstract

Very high local stresses, related to delamination or interfacial failure usually occur near edges and interfaces in heteregeneous structures. Stress calculations by classical finite elements are not well suited for these structures as they do not take into account all the necessary continuities at the interface. The present work is a contribution to the development of interfacial finite elements which have received much attention over the last decade.
