Abstract

Fretting fatigue properties of rail steel and fish plate was examained by clamping contact double pads system. In order to investigate effects of a contact pressure and a relative slip amplitude on the fretting fatigue pro;>- erties, the tests were carried out under conditions of three contact pressure and also three pad lengths. Fatigue strength reduced with increasing the. contact pressure and also the slip amplitude , and reduction of the fretting fatigue strength was about 44 - 38% to the plain fatigue strength. The fretting wear damage on the contact surface became more remark
