Abstract

In this study, to clarify the notch effect in the fatigue of HIP-sintered steel, rotating bending fatigue tests were conducted on specimens with a circumferential groove whose diameters were different. As a result, it is successfully confirmed that the linear notch mechanics is available for the examination of notch effects in the fatigue of HIP'ed steel. The master curve useful for the estimation of notch effect in a HIP'ed steel was also produced by arranging the experimental data , based on the linear notch mechanics . 1 Introduction HIP process can provide products having stability in quality by elimination of most of defects in material.
