Abstract

Low-cycle fatigue strength reduction factor of notched components for low-carbon steels A. Morimoto, A. Saito, E. Matsumoto Kowakae Higashi-osaka, 577 Japan A b s tract Hie estimation of low-cycle fatigue life for the notched components is one of the most important technology for the structural materials. In this study, the low-cycle fatigue tests were carried out using the smooth round bar specimens and the notched plate specimens with several stress concentration factor. Trie materials used are the hot-rolled low-carbon steel sheets with several strength. From the experimental results and analyses, the effect of material strength on low-cycle fatigue strength and the estimating method of low-cycle fatigue strength of notched components have been clarified. 1 Introduction Large structures are usually constructed using the conventional low-carbon steels and often contain many kinds of discontinuous cross sections or initial defects.
