Abstract

Simple models of spectral radiative properties of water vapour (H^O) Y.U. Khan/ D.A. Lawson,' R.J. Tucker" "School of MIS, Coventry University, Coventry CV1 5FB, UK Research Centre, Loughborough LEI I 3QU, UK Abstract Spectral properties of water vapour are thoroughly investigated in the gas temperature range 600-2400K and P^L range of 0.01-lOatm m. Regression modelling of spectral band properties (absorption coefficient (fc,-), lower (A/,;) and upper (A^) wavelength limits) derived from an Edwards wide band model is carried out. Results of enclosure calculations using Edwards wide band model and the regression models in a banded zone method and a weighted sum of grey gases model in a standard zone method are presented. These show that good agreement has been achieved for the regression model. 1 Introduction Many applications of interest (for example, rocket and aircraft propulsion, boilers, furnaces) involve combustion products from hydrocarbon fossil fu- els at high temperat
