Abstract

This paper presents selected results of a techno-economical optimisation analysis conducted prior to the preparation of the Split/Solin (Croatia) sewerage system's backbone final design. Construction of the most important facilities of the system has already started in 1999 as a part of the MEIP Split/Solin (Municipal Environmental Infrastructure Programme) implementation. The project is aimed to improve the non-satisfactory environmental situation in one of the most populated coastal regions in southern Croatia (KaStela Bay). Modern simulation tools were used to analyse both the impacts of various technical solutions on the environmental situation in the region and to reveal possibilities for improvements of existing technical proposals. The sanitary impact of submarine discharge of treated waste water is modeled by means of hydrody
