Abstract

Diffraction of linearlized long waves has been studied for the prediction of wave interaction due to a pit breakwater. The present model is based on the linear wave theory and boundary element approach. The fluid domain is divided into two regions; an interior region whose boundary consists of the projection of the outline of the pit and an exterior region consisting of the remainder of the fluid domain. By utilizing an appropriate Green's theorem in each region, a pair of simultaneous integral equations has been derived for the velocity potential and its normal derivative at the imaginary fluid interface between the two regions. These integral equati
